WiFi and your privacy

I don't know how many of you follow technology in the news but two recent events have me working on plans to finally rid myself of the wifi at my home.  I have been aware of the inherent security risk but now I am driven to rid myself of that.

The two events that come to mind are the German request in the EU to Google, Inc. to provideulge all the data they gathered from their "Street View" vehicle.  Apparently they captured SSIDs, IP addresses, and various packets while driving around. Hiding your SSID in your router does not make you more secure, it is just security through obscurity which is bound to fail.  The second event is the recent accusations of the U.S. government against 12 individuals for being agents of a foreign government that did not register in the U.S..  Here, the FBI sniffed packets from laptop communications.

The best way to secure yourself is to incinerate your computer now and never login again, but those kinds of extreme measures don't necessarily work in the connected world we live in.  Even TOR has it's issues and people trust that to keep them safe and anonymous, but I digress.  If you want to save yourself the hassle of worrying about people snooping your wifi, pull some cat5e or cat6 cable in your house and use that for your internet.  Twisted pair, by its design eliminates a lot of radiation and one would need some expensive equipment to pick up any latent signals.

/end of rant

It seems we've hit a crossroads Mr. Taco... I'll definitely reflect upon your words... but like Das Maskottchen says...

also, the equipment to intercept packets from network cables is no longer very expensive - you can even make them yourself, end to end encryption is the way forward *not* removing technology.

Hmm.... i can see i need to do an article on this...

End to end encryption may be the way forward, but technology will adapt to breach even that form of protection - which means we will have to adapt to counter it. It is the evolution of technology…

What we need is to not only use end to end encryption but to speak in our own language. To develop a code that can then be translated into English. For example figure this one out:

†˙´ π¨®π¬´ ∫¨˜˜¥ ˆß †ø†å¬¬¥ ´πˆç å˜∂ ´√´®¥ø˜´ ß˙ø¨¬∂ ∑ø®ß˙ˆπ ˙ˆµ

å∫ç∂´ƒ©˙ˆ∆˚¬µ˜øπœ®ß†¨√∑≈¥Ω

One type of encryption may be broken, but it can be replaced by another - the system of end to end encryption is itself the way forward, but yes at times a particular encryption may be broken, but unlike a specific technology the system on end to end encryption is not itself flawed.

Oh I see you figured out my key to the code! Well done :P  though you did forget "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" of what you were supposed to decode :P

Did I make the key too obvious?
